Chania airport was obviously in the middle of an expansion effort when the economic crisis brought Greece to its knees. Abandoned terminal constructions add to the bleak atmosphere, while the operational parts of the terminal are grim and downbeat. That said, it's not very far from Chania, and Chania is a nicer town than Heraklion, according to tourist guides...

Nice small airport...only 25 minutes from city center and the buses are quite cheap...there is an expansion going on so there are works inside the terminal

very small airport,old facilities and bad transportation my flight delayed about 20 minutes and there was no bus to chania center but only taxis which cost 20 Euro

piccolo e affollatissimo aeroporto con affluenza molto elevata d'estate, il check-in e caotico, come il ritiro bagagli, ci sono solo tre metal detector ed e possibile raggiungerlo in taxi o in bus. C'e un solo duty-free e il bar e un po' caro

Small crowded airport that had its best years. Normal to be waiting outside the terminal due to long queue. Garbage everywhere inside and the planes are often delayed here. Avoid this airport if you can.
Everything is just terrible here.

A smal airport and fast baggage clam all baggage has arrived after 10 minutes with Norwegian!
The Lounge are OK standard and the food are delicious and the airport has no WIFI!
The Customs are fast and if you take a Taxi
Can you be in the city on 30 minutes!
A very good airport and a god city to be in a!

Chania airport has improved since we have been visiting Crete over the past 15 years and with the development work that was underway last year looks to be improving further still. Food is available from a couple of kiosks and 'fills a gap' ...don't expect haute cuisine! It is a small airport when you consider the volume of tourist traffic that it sees each year, but then again for the other 6 months or so of each year traffic is minimal.

for such a small airport its awesome facilities, everything is good!!!!!!!!!!from snacks and coffee in good prices, free wifi and service, all are very good for this small accomodation. its also good that with such a small airport the fees are very cheap!

This is a very small and not very popular airport, as you can tell by the almost nonexistent facilities and the personnel that is (not) there. Overall though, this translates into an incredibly short time it takes to get from the door of your plane to outside the airport. Car rental services are ubiquitous in Crete and at the airport. Try to contain your hunger and thirst because as far as I have seen, there is only one shop that sells some snacks and drinks, and nothing special at that. However, wifi is free (hurray)!
