Oh My! Transferring International to domestic was quite simply the worst experience if an airport I have ever had!! A total nightmare. And I've worked in the industry for over 30 years! You must allow a minimum of 2-3 hours to make the journey from aircraft to aircraft.

Although some parts of the airport are decent enough (Holiday Inn Express in the terminal for example), the check-in process can be horrendous, and security took 45 minutes to navigate.

We weren't deplaned at DEL and continued to Srinagar on the same plane. So nothing much to say about DEL. Was kept in a remote stand until the other passengers drplaned and boarded. But no wifi nearby. Boarding check was done onboard.

Since this is a domestic transfer, we didn't have to go through the immigration and check-in which is not good at DEL usually. Gates facilities are great with having sleeping seats. Providing a great experience to passengers. And have no restrictions for photography. Have a good view of the runway giving a great opportunity for aviation enthusiasts to see airport activities. Only draw back is WiFi only lasts 45 minutes, leaving transit passengers without connectivity after 45 minutes.

Food and beverages are expensive.

Very nice and clean airport. I was not able to connect to WiFi perhaps locals can. Food offer is limited for such a big airport but fair. Very nice lounges available where good Indian food is served. Going through customs is a nightmare but I guess that appliers to other airports in India not just Indira Gandhi. Getting to the airport is an adventure as traffic in India is very unique to say the least.

Terminal 1D is rather simple, however all necessary facilities are available. The men?s room could be a bit cleaner and less smelly... everything else was in a good state. I was not able to use any of the WiFi offerings as I never received the required PIN by SMS.

Beeing a wheelchair user, connecting through this airport is a nightmare. Mandatory assistance, that have to take you to your next gate, despite departure time beeing far away. Private wheelchair is also impossible to use, due to security reasons. Paranoid, not very service minded airport.

If you can get through to departures, it is a good airport (with smoking rooms) but if there are many hours between your flights, you will have to go outside and will not be allowed back in until 5 or 6 hours before your next flight and then you will still have to wait for the check-in counter to open before you can get rid of your case which you will have had to collect after your previous flight.

All of this airport is a mess. Huge and new but maintenance is terrible. Roofs are already falling, bathrooms are dirty and crowded, food is poor, AC is a dismal... As India, nothing works properly.

Mobile Boarding Cards not allowed there, people taking you to aiport are not allowed to enter terminal in order to say goodbye, long waiting time at security check and migration. In general lots of bureaucracy. Where else do boarding cards get a stamp after security check?

T1 is crowded, the lines exceed 100 people at a time.. The check in lines are a pain and the shuttles from T3 are not always available with passengers paying upto 600 Rupees to shuttle between the terminals. Bad, GMR Bad !

Was very surprised by this airport honestly. It's a very nice terminal. The one thing that is different, is the amount of security this airport has! Our taxi was sniffed by dogs, then you had to prove that you were flying to the military in order to step foot into the check in area, which is fine, but family aren't able to come in and say goodbye! Then of course you go through you normal security checkpoint. But that's not all. When I got to the gate, you had to basically go through security again and then you were trapped into this area until boarding and then you board. That's very different to me with all that security, but It can be a very good thing! Just allow yourself that extra time to go through security if flying United Airlines!

Where do I start? Arrived late at night with friends whose flight was 4 hours before mine. I was not admitted to the terminal. I begged my way in through the visitors' lounge. It's the first airport where I saw a rule like that, which results in people sleeping on the ground in front of the airport - unbelievable!
Check-in was rather smooth and unproblematic (Turkish Airlines).
Passport control took over 45 minutes! To leave the country! Perhaps they should have separate queues for Indians and foreign, as I spent there maybe a minute, while Indians on average about 5-10. Security check was chaotic and the whole stay at the airport is about collecting stamps. I was checked: at the entrance, at the passport control, at the security check, at the gate, in the bridge to the plane... Horrible!
As for the facilities there is a zone with shops and restaurants, but nothing really outstanding. Once you leave it, there are only some shady cafes (mind that prices are given without taxes!). Dirty carpet-like thing covers floors.
No free WiFi, typical for India.
I don't understand how this airport can boast that they are the Number One Airport in the world...

One of the best Airport in the world with amenities and facilities for all. Staff is very cooperative and cordial. With linkage of Metro service and taxi services like Uber commuting to city is very comfortable. The decor and ambience of airport interiors are breath taking and very Indian. On the best priced Delhi Duty free and amazing services. Food restaurants are as well a must visit. Overall awesome experience always.

Although Delhi Airport is rated the best amongst other airports in Asia. There r some draw backs. Lack of im-migration forms in dest compels the travellers to either returb back to the aircraft and ask crew for forms or beg the travellers for an extra form. Otehr faciltiies are good anyways.

One of the newest airport. It is very clean. Toilets are very clean also. Security check is intense but it makes you feel safer. As about food you can find everything, from very cheap fast food or Indian food to restaurant style. The bad thing is the WiFi. It is not free as in Mumbai and sometimes the message that they send you to activate the 45min free use is not arriving. Also when it works the connection is quite slow.

Delhi Airport domestic flights, in this case Indigo is parked in Indigo bay and after getting down we are moved on bus to terminal. Terminal facilities are good but T3 terminal is better.
Delhi is one the busiest airport in India and we can make out from the traffic on taxi way and runway. However, flight landing / take off clearance are on time if weather permits. Traveling to and from Delhi is tricky during winter season especially early morning and evening due to fog. Although our flight took off with visibility of 800 meters, travelers with tight scheduled are advised to book flights accordingly.
Pre-paid taxi is advised for moving out from airport. If you have landed in T3 check out for metro express line for faster, safer travel towards New Delhi railway station.

It's a big airport. So keep some time in hand to move from Immigration to your designated gate. And that goes for both, domestic and international travel.

There are enough recliners, low chairs for you to sleep if you have a lot of time between connecting flights. Worst case, scenario, there are lots of hotels at the aero-city.

Delhi is not a bad airport as a building however the way the the airport functions is terrible. You will not be admitted to check-in area in less than 6 hours before departure - so you need to wait outside the airport till your time comes. There are also numerous security and control checks where you need to collect stamps (stamped on your ticket or on luggage tag) and most of these checks does not make sense - ex one person checks you before you can get to final departure zone, one check exactly the same before you enter the plane and one checks the same in the plane. All the stuff in the airport seems to only care about stamps you collect.
On top of everything I was scammed in Costa Coffee - I placed an order to discover later that the restaurant's staff deliberately added some items and changed quantities. Since I paid with credit card it was not reimbursable.
Anyway I was not really happy in this airport

The domestic terminals for LCCs don't have ATMs and airport staff are callous and unhelpful. Travelling via Delhi isn't so painful as long as one doesn't step in to the terminals. Ever since it's privatization back in 2006 it has improved marginally but I still wouldn't recommend flying through Delhi. It's a godforsaken hellhole.

Very spaced out airport which gives connecting passengers a wonderful 180 degree view and an opportunity to plane spot and have a jolly good stroll across the airport. The vast size has its benefits..More shops and restaurants ! Perfect to spend a couple of hours strolling into shops and building an appetite and then dining on some delicious meals before boarding your flight. A definite must visit.
