Dublin airport from the eyes of a native. where do i begin?
i will do this with both terminal 1 and 2 since i have been in both frequently these past few years.
Getting to the airport is fairly straight forward, you have Bus Eireann, Aircoach, or Dublin Bus in the city centre. i recommend not taking a taxi as the fares are double the price of an Air Coach ticket, but if you are in a rush it is the fastest way.
Terminal Facilities (done in both T1 and T2)
Terminal 1 is a fairly new Terminal being built sometime in the late 90's early 00's to accommodate the then growing Ryanair fleet. as of today it houses Ryanair and a number of other airlines who use those terminals. The facilites are fairly good having a handfull of shops and eating areas for you to enjoy and endulge. one downside to Terminal 1 is the lack of jetways, and when i mean lack i mean there are NO jetways what so ever. every flight who park there use stairs to enter and exit the aircraft. which is a downside if you dont like the rain or cold weather we frequently get. it is also has no charging ports (as far as I'm aware) but overall it is not a bad terminal
Terminal 2 on the other hand is the newest of the lot being built sometime in the early 2010's, although if you fly Ethihad, Hainan, Air Canada or Aer Lingus flights from gates 301 - 313 you are going to be in the very old part of the airport which was built sometime in the 1980's or earlier. Terminal 2 is very spacious giving you easy access to the shops and facilities. the older part of therminal 2 is more closed than the newer building. there is also a brand new terminal building (i think built for the Norwegian 737 MAX's) which is in front of the aer lingus cargo building, also houses some transatlantic and european flights, and the facilities are bare since it is fairly new and small.
Immigration and customs can be a funny ordeal, very recently they installed the robotic camera check with your passport. which was somewhat confusing to operate with vague instructions. but that's more to do with the supplier rather than the airport so I wont complain too much. other than that the Gardai (Police) who are in the airport are very friendly. (both terminal buildings).
baggage claim is like the Irish Weather, you dont know if it will be fast or slow. but most times i was waiting for my bags it was fairly quick.
extra note. in both terminals, there are renovating work happening at the time of me typing this so this may impact check in or foot transit throughout the terminals.
overall it is a decent airport. but in regards to gates 301-313 it needs a major renovating to make it feel like the newer terminal 2 as it is literally stepping back in time. but overall it isnt a bad airport

I don't live too far away from the Airport so it wasnt bad getting there. Terminal 2 has Self check in Machines which are very handy. The Security took about 20 minuets to get through including the Waiting times.

US pre-clearance at Dublin means no queues in States as you are cleared through US immigration and customs before you leave Dublin

This infrastructure is on average, but it can become very messy during peak time.
There is a really poorly immigration, with long queues, few agents and a lack of clear informations.
The overall services and offices are well organized, though there few restaurants and choices.
The only way to get to the airport is with buses ( public or private ), every 30 mins , depending from the company.

Dublin Airport is efficient, simple and pretty. Passport control will be done quickly, as will the recovery of suitcases. Only downside : the distance from the bus parking.

Nice airport, not that conveniently reachable by public transport (only bus). We found security rather slow.
Quite some nice shops in main terminal, though not that many in the pier near the gates.
For sure easy to connect from EU to USA

You have to go to 2 security checks here. First the Brutal one, done by the Irish, and a second one, just to annoy you, by the US.

Dublin airport Terminal Terminal 1 can be very busy and noise on an evening with people drunk.
The terminal offers a limited number of places to eat with huge waits at BK. I Much Much prefer terminal 2 which I really do love home to Aer Lingus

If you're under 16 you need a parents written consent to travel alone! Customs were understanding that we weren't familiar with that rule and let us through. The airport is nice, modern and clean. Wifi is good, food is well priced.

I have to say I love Dublin airport. I've flown out of Dublin Airport many times and they've never usually left me disappointed. Check in for my flight didn't take too long, staff were helpful and kind and answered any questions I had for them. The airport isn't too big so it's easy to get around and also their duty free area had some nice shops and restaurants. However, there was one time when I was flying out of terminal 1 where I went for something to eat. I went to Burger King and was left waiting at the till for nearly half an hour. I have to say I wasn't satisfied at all, but this was really the only time I left the airport unhappy. Other than that the airports nice and clean and the staff were kind and helpful.

I was lucky to have a very short queue for security checks when arriving at T2, at T1 it loked much more crowded.
Toilets in bad shape (although clean on surface) and few seats at boarding gates at T1.

Dublin Terminal 1 is old and most EUR flights depart from gates without an airbridge. The part of the terminal with these gates is cramped and does not offer any services.

All issues are with US Preclearance: Second security check seems unnecessary. This area has very limited facilites. More information about wait times would be useful so I could spend more time in the main departure lounge, rather than the somewhat spartan preclearance area

DUB is just a basket case, roadways are congested and chaotic. Terminal 1 has been turned into a glorified shopping mall, and the luggage appears to be delivered to baggage claim via snail mail. There's a reason I try to fly from Cork whenever possible. Recommendation: Avoid DUB whenever possible!

It took 2 hours to go through the worse possible security system I've seen in 30 years. Highly inefficient with only one body scanner and ten to twelve security people watching up to five minutes an empty scanner before asking another traveler to go through it! It's a shame for Ireland!

Brilliant, modern airport.
Road access to the airport is very good, security was quick although this was during off peak times. Bright and spacious terminal 2, didn't use the food options this time but I have previously and they are decent. Toilet facilities are very good and clean, planespotting opportunities from the terminal are quite good, but camera use is recommended as phones can't really capture the planes as good as you might want. The waiting area for Stobart Air/ Aer Lingus Regional flights is okay, no shops or places to eat there as far as I know. Might be a little tricky to find but if you keep looking at the signs you should be okay. If you want to head up to Terminal 1, there is a connecting corridor airside between the two terminals that is not too hard to find. The Aer Lingus lounge can also be found on this corridor. Stobart/ EI Regional flights leave from remote stands near terminal 1 that you are brought to by an airside bus, which is like a free airside tour that leaves from the regional waiting area gates.

Lived in Dublin for a while and flew in/out of DUB to mainland Europe many times. Terminal 2 is very modern, clean and not too big. Nice cafes and shops there. Seats at the gates quite uncomfortable though. Terminal 1 much older and always very crowded. There are a few restaurants and shops as well but can be very chaotic and expensive!
Big plus: Almost no waiting time in both terminals at Immigration/customs and baggage claim. Well connected to central Dublin and other counties by bus (Aircoach).

Long walk from plane to arrivals, but i chalk that up to Ryanair being their usual cheap and inefficient selves. Customs was quick, on the return security was very busy and slow. Airside plenty of choice for shops and food/drinks, another great experience of this great airport.

Getting to and from the Airport is a breeze. For 11 Euro you can get a return ticket from a number of city stops to the airport, journey is around 35 mins.
I did online check in and that was perfect. fast security and as the flight was from Terminal 2 no immigration.
The rest is a little so so, normal airport, nothing too spectacular. The airport is bigger than one might think

The check in crew at the airport was money hungry and appeared to be rude and gave me a smile which made me feel they were making fun of me.They made me repackage my baggage to adjust for my excess baggage to add to my misery which was the same amount of luggage I brought from Australia without any costs I would say avoid flying out of Dublin or into Dublin at any costs

For Irelands No.1 Airport you'd expect it to be just a bit more organized, it's still excellent but there are some long walkways which takes almost 20 mins, and if you are new to the Airport that could take make you miss your flight. Terminal 1 is mainly for Aer Lingus' and Terminal 2 is mainly for Ryanair's. Never have to two Airlines been on the same Terminal on the Airport which is fully organized. Normally to get there from other places in Ireland you have to get a train and then a bus to the Airport.

Late evening departure from T2 so security was a breeze, took all of 60 seconds. Nice feature was clear signs advising of limited facilities in the gate area before the escalators down to them. I didn't have long there but nice open plan departures area with plenty of shops to browse, just a shame nowhere apparent to view movements, until your gate is announced.

Arriving at Terminal 2 at Dublin I passed through security with ease and was soon in the departures lounge. I found my way down the concourse to the end of it where the windows provide a good view of the runway. From here I spent a few hours planespotting. Although from its position there is alot of glare from the sun.
The facilities in the terminal are very good although the main eateries are in the main terminal complex which is a bit of a walk from the end of the concourse.

First time using Dublin Terminal 1. Getting through security was pretty easy and the wait was no more than 5 minutes. The facilities there are very good although they are very spread out due to the terminal's design.
I went to Pier B to do some planespotting. The glass was marked but you can still see alot due to the pier's design. Although the pier itself faces into the sun.
My flight was from the low cost pier which is a bit of a trek even with travelators.
The wifi is probably one of the best in the world. I very much like Dublin and would happily use it again.
