Going to Kolkata airport through Howrah or Kolkata city is really troublesome. Traffic jams are common and you get uneasy feeling while you wait in your cab which is trying to push through traffic.
However, once you are out from city, new city area is highly developing zone. You get to Kolkata airport and you feel relaxed with the best of airport facilities.
Security checkin and food is awesome. Sweets are available at airport if you forgot to buy some for your loved ones. However, it is costlier for obvious reasons.

When the new terminal was inaugurated I was happy that finally Kolkata would get its share of a new state of the art airport. It seemed all fancy with the glassy exteriors and a good looking terminal approach. The entire thing was faltered once I was in the airport. A faulty WiFi connection, broken lounge chairs, a tiny and a pathetic duty free, no available cafes and eatery outlets, faulty airconditioning, rats in the washroom and cockroaches around.. Hopeless for such a new airport. The funniest and the craziest part was that I had crows and pigeons flying over me in the international terminal building ! Random and crazy. The staff at the airport were less than helpful who were sleeping on the floors at the time when most international flights are scheduled. What nonsense ! Compare that to other international terminals across the country which may be smaller, this airport is an absolute piece of dump. Sorry to say, I have seen this airport with many important connections back in the 1990's. Every year major airlines pull out of this airport due to its lack of infrastructure despite it having enough customers to different parts of the world ! British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa etc. all have withdrawn their services from this ghastly and idiotic terminal which looks all flashy from outside but indeed a garbage bin from the inside. Not even 3 years in full time service and this is what it has become !! God save the city of Kolkata !

Getting to the Airport is terrible..one should give at 4 hrs advance travel time. Not much to do food court is terrible....no wifi..Airport interiors are too sliver for my liking...some green plants at the departures would be nice. It's the only airport with birds flying inside the terminal. Was horrified to see birds at the airplane parking bay.

Great airport, getting to it is not that good but is fine, all amenities are there, great restaurants, cafes, bookshops, etc. WiFi is there unlike other indian airports. the terminal is huge and great but there are very less pax and it seems very empty, fog or clouds kind of thing appear on the top near the roof in winter.

Here, for the umpteenth occasion, our flight missed an aerobridge. As a result, we had to take an overcrowded SpiceJet bus from the termac to the terminal point.

Lack of aero bridges is a terrible deficiency in an airport representing an A1 Metro city of India.

The new terminal of Kolkata is amazing. Though the bathrooms have lately become very filthy with Paan and Gutkha stains that can be found on wash basins and mirrors. It is understood that Kolkata hosts a different kind of passengers. However, care should be taken to keep the new terminal up to the mark for international passengers.

Neat and clean and quite modern. It's a bit far from the city so plan accordingly. Not too many food and beverage options here. The lounge leaves a lot to be desired, but it's better than nothing. Check-in is usually smooth with not very many long lines. Same with the security check. Watch out for people trying to break the line - always grinds my gears. Kol is the worst in India for this.

big airport...not a crappy like the old ccu airport...but more shops need to be open...didn't found ant proper duty free shops...overall airport is well maintained...check-in is seamless...good transport facility...

Very modern airport! Very fast Check-In and security control. Airport seems big, but is comfortable to reach all the gates in less than 4 minutes. Announcements were spoken clearly. Good view to the runway Until now, the best airport in India!

No restaurant available, only few food stalls. Restaurant still under construction during my visit. Public phone also not available.
However, taxi is readily available. Convenient and cheap.
Overall, it is still a new airport and many facility is still being constructed. Probably need time to completed but hope it wont take too long.

pretty smooth at this new airport compared to other indian airports.
Remember to get a bagage tag for your hand bagage, they stamp it at security. W/o one you wont get past security. Airport is clean and easy to find your way in. Not many shops etc.

After the construction of the new integrated terminal, I must say that the quality is improved very much as compared to the previous years... so my overall experience at NSCBIA kolkata is good.
