The new Qantas Lounge no longer has runway views, is hot in places and looks like it was fitted out by IKEA - not an improvement sadly.

Melbourne security os the worst in the whole of Asia. Staff have 1 brain cell adn cannot interpret anything, they have no common sense adn the whole thing is a sham and a hold up to the flow of passengers. Get your shit together Melbourne

They have automatic immigration system, it was soooo fast to go out!
Actually, I used to love collecting immigration stamps, but I couldn't get them in here.

Ok airport. I find that the gates are too far apart on some connecting domestic routes. Signage could be improved.

I have connected internationally once through MEL. Generally it was a positive experience with no problems. MEL is a convenient, clean, and well-organized airport with nice staff. There are good shopping and eating opportunities in the terminal. I had a 2 1/2 hour connection which I
was plenty of time to go through security etc. However, I would not recommend a connection longer than 3h as quite simply you would get bored. KEEP IN MIND: I have only been to the international terminal (keep in mind).

They have recently upgraded the international terminal and now looks like one of the very many empty 'malls of Asia' with no-one shopping in the high end stores. They have removed the bright, open, inviting space they did have. I guess whoever is heading this project doesn't travel very much.

Got through the e-Gates quite quickly this time.
Bags had Priority tags and turned up first which is unusual.
Has no trouble finding our driver but it is a long walk in the open to the car and the pedestrian crossings are just dangerous.

There was a lack of signage so getting through security and finding the gate was a nightmare. There was a lack of seats at the gate.

Truly the most rundown airport, even the newer sections. Melbourne Airport do the least they can get away with regarding the terminals and facilities, dirty, smelly, rundown and they take your money at every opportunity.

I didn't have a great experience at this airport. Getting to the airport was confusing, the queues at the check-in and security check were long, terminal was crowded. At least my flight departing from the airport was great.

Overall, Great Airport! Long walk from the relaxing / food court area to the gate. I found it surprising that terminal 4 closes overnight and reopens at 4:00am which was a little annoying. Very clean and okay selection of food outlets.

Straight through immigration after collecting the epass really quite a good system once you are familiar with it. bags were waiting for us on the carousel, but the line for customs was huge again. although it moved quickly it is frustrating as it is the last thing before getting home. The line weaves through and among the baggage carousels adding to congestion. meating area as you leave customs is always congested so ensure you go the right direction while behind the rail to save having to push through the crowd to go back the other way.

only thing did not liked the walk to T4 the new Jetstar dedicated terminal , you need to allow sufficient time to reach your gate , they should have enough carts to carry pregnant ladies and families with young ones .
Also luggage trolley needs to be paid $4???
Australia is probably be the only country charging for getting your luggage through the trolley

Under renovation so food outlets were lacking after going through customs checks. one plus though was there was plenty of opportunity to purchase bottled water for consumption on the flight. Had trouble connecting to wifi. Rail link to airport would be handy

No rail link, but good long term carparking with regular shuttle buses to the terminals.
Terminal ok but could use a face lift. One of the longest waits for baggage collection and immigration and customs can get very busy I have taken an hour and 45 min to get through at times.

MEL is an absolute disgrace and a national embarrassment - period.
Parking is the most expensive in the developed world!
No train, get real Victoria, many so called third world countries have better transport to their main airports.
Pay for luggage trolleys, completely outrageous!
Air Bus service is WAY TOO expensive, trumped up to be something wonderful, but barely second rate.
We now actively avoid Melbourne because of the airport ans associated services.

Surly and unhelpful security staff. Queued for clearance only to be told to fill in an orange form, which turned-out to be green, and was only available by returning to the back of the queue! Together with the convoluted route via duty-free, and a long walk to the furthest gate, led to a rushed boarding, this being on a quiet day.

My home airport, plenty of shopping and restaurants. Free WiFi is of decent speed.
Check in is always orderly and the lines move fairly fast.
The biggest thing that lets Melbourne Airport down is the transport to the airport. There is no rail link, and one main freeway that can become choked with traffic. There is a frequent shuttle bus, but it is expensive.

I have always found Melbourne an easy airport to get around, nothing seems to be too far away and it's easy to get to and well signposted.
Having said that I recently had a regional flight from MEL-LST with Qantas and the departure gate seemed to be in a long forgotten part of the airport, probably Melbourne Airport Mark I. The seats were torn, the area was dark and dank, not a pleasant area.

The wait for a taxi at Melbourne (Qantas terminal) alway seems to take a long time - presumably because it is at the end of the series of terminals all of which are waiting for taxis.
Next time I will try walking down to the Virgin taxi rank to see if that is any quicker.

The Qantas Business Lounge definatly doesnt differ from the service that you get onboard. The lounge boasts a large range of cold food as well as many hot dishes from all cultures. An even larger variety of drinks are on offer too. There are a large choice of books, magazines and computers available for business use. The lounge has a real sense of modern interior design.

The airport is way too remote from the city centre. I reckon it took one hour with the bus shuttle service to get there and therefore it's also expensive.

Melbourne Airport Immigration is shocking between 8am - Midday. Lines back past duty free and should not have to be as not all counters are open. There is no control leading to the lines leading to mass confusion. This airport immigration is poorly run.

Melbourne airport is probably the only airport this size with no public transport from the city. I think that Airport owners are refusing to allow Government to build the railways, as they are getting very rich by charging extraordinary sums for parking and taxis add on charges.

Qantas baggage staff are hopeless here - I have a bicycle case that I fly with every month, and every single time they throw it on the belt upside down and take no care or attention. Despite flying business every time with priority baggage claim, my luggage always seems to be stuck in the middle....

Area for international check-in counters feels a little tight. Can see obvious squeezing of additional counters around odd corners to maximise available space. Immigration was a long process. A couple of flights were departing around the same time and it was obvious not enough counters were opened to deal with the crowds. Duty free retail area immediately after immigration and it was quite a walk to the gates. Retail options however were decent. The skybus rides into and out of the airport to the CBD were decent, but still susceptible to traffic congestion. Lots of time required to get to the airport. High time a rail option is added.

Tullamarine is your average airport. Nothing fancy. The recently upgraded international terminal (2) looks OK.
Traffic to and from the airport is primarily via taxi's. There is no public transport in the near vicinity and the other option is to use the Skybus which brings you to the heart of the city near Southern Cross station for AUD$18.00. A comparable cab-ride is around 70 to 100.

When i got to Melbourne airport it was so many papers you had to write on and so many customs you had to go trough. Too much customs and a lot of waiting in queue. IF you are in a hurry with a connection flight then do not go trough Melbourne airport.

Fiji Airways has a very strict hand-carried luggage policy. I guess it is their way to make more money, aside from overpriced tickets. Plus the lady at Tullamarine airport doing the check does not have any common sense.

Overall a better experience than I thought it would be with so many pax on an A388. Melbourne airport could really do with free wifi. Only annoying thing was the number of people sleeping on the seats that had a view over the Tarmac.

Have to pay for wifi which i thought was very poor. As for baggage well they handled the slip up in Dubai nicely, as for the blokes in Dubai not so nicely. They organised my baggage to come in on another flight and offered to deliver it to my house 340km's away. Airports big but nothing compared to transit airports.

Melbourne, just brilliant! Melbourne, Melbourne, Melbourne better than $ydney. There are no words to describe how good Melbourne is! Two would suffice, just brilliant. I can't stress how good Melbourne is. It was the original capital until Sydney's insecurity showed up.
