Infrastructure is good personnel is the worst. Rude security personnel made the experience horrible. Duty-free shopping area has to be improved. Not much of a choice they have.

Very advanced and well organized airport. We entered right in the middle of the morning rush meaning there were easily 600-800 people trying to get on connecting flights or just leave the airport and it was handled superbly. Just make sure you know your place in the security lines as people will try and push in front of you and the pretend like they cannot speak English, even though they definitely can.

Great once you are through security check.
I was on transit from Bangkok to Zurich and it is obvious that Mumbai airport is not used to dealing with international transits as we had to wait an hour by the customs until someone came to pick us up to guide us through security checks and had a tough time explaining to the police that we were not entering India at all.

Flights are not announced at gate due to silent airport rule. Boarding is a disaster, rather than flight staff using the loud speaker to announce flight and boarding, they scream the boarding the info at the crowd of passengers

Terminal 1 from which the low cost airlines leave is going from bad to worse. The worst is the traffic management.
1. Airport authorities insist on charging 100 bucks to all Ola and Uber taxis. Traffic may go to hell.

Minimum 2 hours drive from downtown (for safe driving).
Passengers should be good athlete to cross hurdler starting from Entrance gate to aircraft. I have been checked 2 times (useless) in boarding pass queue, 1 time at airline counter, 4 times in queue for aircraft boarding (3 times unnecessary), Huhhhhhh

Someone forgot to put in the moving walkways for arriving passengers! Long walk punctuated by short and sporadic moving walkways when other airports would put in long ones to cover the majority of the distance.

Chhtrapati Shivaji Airport's terminal 1D (or the domestic terminal) is where Indigo Airlines and other low cost airlines are serviced. And frankly, the terminal is pretty spartan. The WiFi is patchy. The chairs are pretty uncomfortable. And when we went looking for basic dinner options like a sandwich, the food was stale.

8 times passport control is much more than a safe flight needs.
After access to the airport you have no chance to leave it again!
I was there 5,5 hours before departure.
Checkin only with handluggage was not possible, staff was not there.
Checkin with automatic checkin counter also not possible, you need a stamp after getting the boarding pass from ground staff before you can pass the security control.
Decided to have dinner nearby in Hyatt (because I could not go to the Lounge, no Boarding pass ...). But I was not allowed to leave the Airport without stamp of Lufthansa staff on my ticket. ... how if they were not there?
They really let a Business class passenger wait in the entrance hall!

The airport is very big.There is vast Flight connectivity.It has flights to most of the airports to India.But the transfer from the International Terminal to the Domestic Terminal 1B takes a long time.

The old part of the domestic airport (Gates 1 to 10) is always crowded (as opposed to the new wing whose numbers begin with A)
The facilities are under pressure with many flights leaving at the same time. Which is surprising, since all other airports in India have improved except Mumbai. The WiFi is patchy in most parts.

The airport facilities are good, transfer from international to domestic are provided by the airport facility but again be aware that (international to domestic) if your have connecting flights you need to be aware that the distrance from international to domestic terminal is approx 2km so you need to hurry, the baggage is collected at the international terminal itself so little peace of mind.

Getting to the airport can be tough but as soon as you reach Sahar Elevated highway then begins your world class voyage. everything is top notch. The airport is cleaner, better and more awesome than any airport i have been to in the world. It has great facilities and the decorations, etc are better than even DXB or JFK or LHR. only once you leave the airport road your wonderful dream ends.

This is for the T2 in Bombay.
So far just experienced the arrival into T2 from Delhi.
So we got the last aerobridge, and I expected to walk the 100 miles to the baggage claim, but was pleasantly surprised that it was right OPPOSITE the gate and we were in baggage claim in 5 seconds!.
The bags also came out right away, so we were in the car in less than 10 minutes.
Amazing.
I may travel to Delhi this week and If I use Vistara will use T2 Departure, so will experience that.
But T2 is A SUPERB AIRPORT.

Only one phrase can describe the Mumbai International Airport Terminal 2: A Labour of Love. The exterior looks stunning with towering pillars. Mood lighting in corniches within the pillars highlight the architecture. Step inside and the beautiful columns are complemented by Moorish oval shaped structures. The boarding gates are some distance away, but use the travellators. You can also use the golf carts.
On the way to the boarding gates, one side of the wall is a veritable museum. Exquisite sculptures, paintings, and other installation are make it one of the most beautiful airports in the world. In fact, I'd go as far as saying it makes Singapore's Changi look like a soviet style apartment block.

What a change from the old BOM! Ebola screening was quick and efficient. Immigration was still in the old BOM - slow and painful! Baggage collection reminded of the chaos that exist on the streets of the great city. Great duty free options though did not use. Departure was a lot more smooth than arrival.

Mumbai domestic is a terrible airport. I wanted to write a few bullet points for the overall Mumbai airport management for following reasons:
1. The transfer from International to Domestic is a terribly mismanaged one. The buses are inadequate and nobody announces when the next bus will arrives.
2. The WiFi at the international terminal (T2) is good. In 1B, it is ridiculously unavailable.
3. The food stalls at 1B sell unpalatable food at extremely inflated price tag.
4. There are numerous security checks before boarding the bus and after. Not sure why so many similar checks are necessary.

Arrival at Mumbai was a shocker from baggage claim perspective. It took about an hour to get the two bags on carousel. Jet Airways probably runs only one tractor to go back and forth to bring luggage. This is the slowest baggage claim I have ever seen.
Also, baggage claim at Mumbai, crossing the customs screen and checking in for domestic flight is too primitive an approach.

You can get there only by taxi and you actually can't predict how long it would take. When you finally get to the airport, there are lots of pointless controls. When you enter terminal they check your documents and printed reservation. Before you get in the queue to check-ins they again check your passport. After security control, they stamp your boarding pass, than another guy, about 20 meters farther ,checks if it's stamped. Later boarding passes are checked another two times- at the gate, and in the jetway. There is also another security control of hand luggage during boarding.
On the positive side international terminal looks nice and is very clean, especially for Indian standards, prices in restaurants are reasonable, WiFi works ok, as long as you seat in one place.

I liked the airport in general but stayed lounge most time and they had very few power outlets which was a big disappointment. Food and drinks was above average and there some really good Indian main dishes and desserts.

All are gaga about the new T2 in Mumbai, but found it sadly lacking. The departure is good but the arrival is quite pathetic. Long way to walk from the aircraft. Very few walkalators, that too each one is ponly about 100 feet long. The carpets already look old, and the whole area has an old feel to it. The immigrations is good and fast, but the baggage takes a long time to come. Duty free shopping is very restricted. Only one shop with limited variety.

There's no lounge at Terminal 1B and the quality of food being served at their shops is deplorable. Getting to the domestic airport isn't an easy feat either. In future, I would try avoiding Mumbai when flying domestic and it's my suggestion to fellow travelers as well.

brand new mumbai's T2 terminal...from outside looks awesome...check-in is very slow...situation was like staffs were handling such a large number of passengers for very first time...terminal facility is good...very long walk for reaching gates...less number of travelators as compared to size of airport...boarding bridges are awesome...

ON arrival into Mumbai International Airport, Its one the challenging task to get out of it in recoded time. Right from getting onto those terminal connection buses from aircraft unto the immigration is a big task .You actually have to Brace yourself for immigration check and baggage claims. I have been traveling to and from this airport since ages and still its sad to say nothing has been done to rectify those issues. It is by far one of the most horrible airports in the world. As usual, security staff and airport staff is at the peak of their rudeness like they have been receiving some extra special training from airlines to how to be even more rude. Horrible traffic management outside terminal building. Exorbitantly costly food stalls with worst food ever.

Peace of crap lounge, good luck trying to get Wi-Fi. Absolutely worthless lounge. Flying in business on domestic flights on Jet Airways is a waste of money. Domestic terminal is very crappy overall. Outrageous prices in bars, scarce food in the lounge. Security is very annoying and incompetent, but one of the betterish compared to the rest of Indian airports. Next time I will definitely avoid domestic transfers in Mumbai.
