Chaos at the airport due to French ATC staff being on strike.
The departure lounge in the area of Gates A20, A21 and A22 was very stuffy, probably due to the very high number of passengers in this area.
Othr than being told that flights were running late due to the above strike, there was a definite lack of information coming through about individual flights. Passengers coming off of our DSA flight at Palma came through the departure gate and no one directed them as to how to reach the arrivals lounge.

WiFi doesn't work, staff doesn't speak any good English, staff at the security check doesn't even say a word, they just give you a wave to step forward, like we're animals, prices for beverages or food are rather expensive (?3 for a small bottle of soda or water), toilets are very, very, very dirty and not maintained (blowers don't work, there's no soap, doorlocks are non-existent, etc.).

Travel companion's bag fell off the cart from the plane and it took an hour to retrieve. Our gate and the baggage reclaim we were assigned to couldn't have been further apart. Quiet on the day we arrived but I can imagine it gets pretty hectic in the summer season. Noted no aircon..

Since we were staying In Can Pastilla, the small town under the Airport, the taxi fare was cheaper then usual, Palma De Mallorca Airport is the biggest Airport I've been too, and can now understand why they had to split the terminal in 4 Modules, A,B,C,D. Very long line in the check in though but cleared up fast, very clean and modern airport perfect for a busy holiday destination

Overall performance was very poor, this is by far the worst airport I've been to and I've been to Stansted, there was little natural light and our plane was over an hour late due to half of the bags and passengers being sent to the wrong plane. For a hot place you would also expect air conditioning

As you would expect this is essentially a very large holiday airport, nothing spectacular yet seems to serve its desired purpose reasonably well. Was very crowded when we got there with a large amount of charter flights all departing between about 10 and midday, yet quietened out before our flight went (our LCY flight seemed to be the only one for few hours at 1330). Retail outlets are all very generic with the likes of subway and burger king. The air con seemed to be as well, so wasn't the most pleasant of places to be hanging around.

Quiet old airport with a mass of people. All stuffs try there best, but ... Next time I will fly weekdays and miss Saturdays or Sundays.
Further the officials are not that friendly, how do you expected on a airport this character.

Palma is for sure a large leisure airport. Thereby long walking distances. Though airport as such working fairly well. Rather long time waiting for baggage. No hazzle in customs.
Major bus parking outside, though simple to find.

For such a busy airport during the summer everything ran very efficiently and smoothly. I had a fellow traveller in need of special assistance and have to say they looked after him in a very professional and friendly manner. No complaints about the whole airport experience.

The airport has no problem with queues apart from at check in mainly in summer when there is a lot of charter flights. All major british airlines like Thomson, British Airways, Thomas Cook and Jet2 fly there. The wifi is not brilliant at the airport but there again it isnt at most airport but at Palma its only free for 30 minutes. Arranged travel by companies like Thomson is not very good as it is quite slow as you stop of at lot of different hotel and if its very hot and your on the other side of the island like Puerto Pollensa it is very frustrating

The airport itself is clearly signposted, a nice offer of food and shops. Additionally, this airport offers local specialties in art and food, that distinguishes it a little bit from all those TravelValue, Heinemann etc. operated boring airports. Perfectly designed for changing flights to mainland Spain.
I could gain 4 stars if the WiFi (free, but difficult to connect) would be available for more than 30 minutes only...

Used Palma regularly since the 1970s, so it's a little tricky to offer advice to someone unfamiliar with it.
It is the third largest airport in Spain, larger in passenger numbers than Dusseldorf, Manchester, Stockholm or Dublin, and even the airport serving the capital city of Belgium. Quite surprising for what is essentially an 'holiday airport'.
The overall design is pretty good. The departures are all on the upper level, with the arrivals down below. Directly outside the arrivals entrance is the huge coach park. Taxis and service buses are available from this area as well. The gigantic multi-story car park is merely yards from the terminal building, and there are always spaces available. Most of the hire cars are located within the car park building.
The upper check-in area, (which is driven to directly, no stairs as the word 'upper' may suggest), is obviously very big, but I've always found it very intuitive. I've never had a problem finding the correct desk. Pick up one of the free maps of the airport at the entrance, as they are helpful and clear.
Security is a pain at any airport post '9/11', but I've always got through here a lot quicker than I have at any UK airport. Although I'd imagine the queues could be horrendous during July and August.
Beyond security, there are plenty of shops selling the usual alcohol, cigarettes and perfumes. The prices are excellent compared to the UK, but no better than the rest of the island.
The lounge area is OK. Plenty of eateries, (if you like burgers!) and a few selling sandwiches. Even when it's busy, you can usually find a table. Again, July and August may be different.
Then it's a long, long walk down to the gate. As I've said, it is a large airport, and it is possible to have to walk nearly ONE MILE from the check in desk, through the security 'snake', through the shops and lounge to the farthest gate. The travelator, (IF WORKING!), can ease this journey a little. Then it's the sad, sorry wait for boarding, listening to screaming kids - lovely! Why can't I afford my own plane :-(
Arriving isn't too bad. Again, there's the very long walk, and sometimes the info to point you to the relevant carousel isn't as accurate as it could be. But the layout is fairly good - easy to follow the walkway through a very quick passport control to the carousels. Then it's just through the adjacent doors to the exit area. All of the car hire companies and tour operators are here, and the areas are very clearly numbered. Coaches, car park, hire car, taxis and public transport all readily available, just outside the exit doors.
All airports are a pain! All airports have issues. But Aeroporto Palma de Mallorca, Son Sant Joan isn't the worst by a long way.

Palma airport has improved quite a bit over the years. The duty free area is much better now. It's still quite a trek to the gates though but It is a relatively big airport, so can't really complain to much!! The biggest thing in need of improvement at PMI is the staff. The majority of them really need to learn how to smile more and be a bit more helpful. After all, if the rest of islanders can manage it, so can they.

Not impressed at all. Security wasnt able to communicate in english at all. No air condition in Pier A of the terminal which when you have 3000 people+ going through makes a hot and very stuffy athmosphere.
Would I fly from Palma again? Probably not

Don't liked PMi myself to be honest. Looks like oldstyle, not very modern airport, but is friendly and with many facilities. Shops without 'WOW' but they are good. Getting to the aiport from Palma de Mallorca or Platja de Palma / Arenal is esay and cheap which I really appreciate!

Palma de Mallorca airport is very nice. The people/staff are helpful and the Fast Track is very good. I tried two of the lounges and they are ok. it is a large airport and everything runs smoothly. The only problem is if you want to rent a car from some of the rental car firms. Very long waiting... But overall it is a nice experience...

One good thing about this airport is the fact that there are enough screens to check the flight information in front of seats rows, so that you can sit down and relax while waiting for the gate number. No need to be standing up on your feet next to a crowded, single big screen.

Airport is large and busy but they need to renew it a bit because its looking old and they need to put some more facilities and retail services in the airport. The lounge was nice and peaceful and the WIFI was excellent, i was looking of Flightradar24 to see where our plane was and the internet connection was amazing. Baggage reclaim is excellent. Immigration was awful, it gained lots of ques and got people frustrated.

The airport is badly organized and the infrastructure looks already pretty old (apart from tax free area).
Useful passenger information is badly or not at all communicated.
When arriving during summer months, you should be prepared to wait sometimes over an hour at the baggage belt to receive your luggage.
The check in screen shows often the wrong or unavailable check in desk and sometimes even a different gate.
Some airport staffs are acting slowly and are already annoyed, when speaking English to tourists.
My luggage was 2 out of 4 times not onboard the airplane, when arriving back home during the summer season.
Public transportation (status 2014):
When crossing the street outside the arrival hall, you can take the bus N?1 to many different stops in Palma and even port.
Duration: +/- 30 Min. (depending on traffic and final bus stop)
Cost: 3 Euro one way per person.
In addition to the bus, you also find plenty of Taxis at a queuing Taxi stand.
The cost to the centre is at least 30 Euro.

Denna relativt stora flygplats ar ganska bra, dock sa tycker jag att det finns for fa allmanna sittplatser, for fa resturanger, katastrofalt daligt med vagguttag for att ladda mobiler och paddor. Tycker ocksa att de ar daliga pa att ange vilken gate ens plan skall avga ifran. Vi skulle lyfta igar kl.22.00 men pa grund av strejken i Frankrike blev vi forsenade, jag vet att var flight landade kl.22.01 kom det ej upp gatenumer forran kl.22.35, mycket konstigt, det ar ju inte sa att planet far en gate for att slappa av folk pa och sedan flyttas efter detta. Det skulle ocksa finnas gratis WiFi, och det gjorde det i 15 min sedan kostar det.

I like it. It's spacious, has a very intuitive layout in spite of its size, plenty of 'easy access' parking, and the huge coach park is right outside the doors. Car hire easily found. Lots of facilities.
