Very strange airport. The numbers of the baggage claims do not align with the signs along the car pick-up area. Airport gate areas had little waiting space and we had line-up along the main walkway.

1) Check in was bad. Only option was the self-service kiosks. And they made me take my bags behind the counter and lay them on the belt myself.

2) Like usual, it was overcrowded and didn't have enough seats in the waiting area.

3) And as always, many staff are rude and unprofessional.

We were originally scheduled to have a 2 hour layover in Philadelphia although a delay on our inbound flight caused us to miss our connection and were forced to wait and additional 4 hours. The airport staff, however, could not have been more helpful. Originally one very kind man helped us cut lines and helped us with out bags to see if we would make our original flight. Unfortunately we didn't but he stayed with us and showed us were to go to get our flights rebooked. Then as we were getting them rebooked the agent noticed a problem with the reservation and he very kindly took over 45 minutes of his time in order to fix the problem, rebook us on the next flight and issue our boarding passes. If all staff at the Philadelphia airport are like this I would love to fly through here all I can,

There is a slight Englishness to this City in places. Maybe it was the weather, one minute warm, the next cold and to put icing on the cake I got snowed in and spent an extra day there. US Airways CAN NOT handle snow. I got moved from one terminal to the next, could not get my baggage and ended up at the Embassy Suits hotel, not cheap, for the night.
As for Philadelphia, it`s a small place with quaint buildings that have history and there are penty of warm friendly bars, cafes and retaurants to visit. Overall a safe and welcoming place to visit albeit poor weather on my trip.

Not a Problem at all when I fly there
but beware that traffic is horrible around the airport they need more transportation options to get to the airport because 95 is always very slow and backed up. It would be nice to see something like Amtrak or a airlink to and from the airport like phoenix has

No food or retail in check-in area, everything is behind the security control. Not very comfortable when you wait 10 hours for your connecting flight and baggage drop-off is not yet ready. A very small dunkin donuts is in the international arrival hall.

Very good time of the night to travel, not much food to offer but security is fast and no passport ummmm thats prettty much itt oh and it is a guarded off gate cuz it is a flight to israel the flight is pretty smooth

A massive, but pleasant, airport with a great range of diversions and seemingly miles of corridors to pass the time between flights. The best feature is the mall or arcade with plenty of shops and eateries with comfortable seating and , of all things, exercise bikes! The internet access is great, I was able to download several movies before my flight.

When I came to PHL I had a hard time finding where to park. When I got in I was able to get through check in quick and easily. I was traveling alone but I came with my grandparents. We wanted to get something to eat before I left but there's only one restaurant before security and it was a good 10 minute walk away.

A pretty decent airport. The Airport WiFi is bad, but various places like the Vino Volo will let you use their WiFi with a purchase.

The airport doesn't have huge distnaces to wallk, which is nice and there's still plenty of shops and reasonable variety in restaurants. It lacks a rea attention grabber, though.l

Maybe the worst airport in the United States. Long security lines run by careless, rude TSA agents. Confusing signage in terminal makes finding gate a genuine problem. Getting between terminals hampered by a third world transit system that made walking the better option.
The Southwest terminal was dirty with a PA system that sounded like it was being run by Charlie Brown's teacher.
The Wi-Fi system was VERY slow, to the point that it would not support basic functions such as e-mail.
Despite clear weather we sat on a taxiway for the better part of 45 minutes before departure and were told by the captain that the problem was excessive ground traffic.

PHL is big and very busy with at least 4-5 terminals. Great food selection in the center of the airport between all the terminals.
Charging stations don't exist and outlets are super hard to find. Security is about average.

Returning to USA from abroad thru Philadelphia is a mess. Sometimes after the plane parks at the gate, passengers are held on board for unloading apparently because of a shortage of Customs personnel. Retrieving baggage is unusually slow, and is even slower sometimes due to Dept. of Agriculture officers and dogs sniffing your luggage. Anytime there are extremely long waiting lines for returning Americans to get thru the Passport/Customs checks.(longer than any other airport I'm familiar with).

Certain parts of airport are filty including the passenger jetways. Old baggage claim belts and our luggage was lost for a moment but was found stuck below the baggage belt and an agent had to go down and pull it out.

Massive queues at the Immigration desks again - slow and very confusing queuing as the US citizens queue was over-spilling into visitors and everything getting messy.
BA Lounge at Philly is amongst the smallest ever visited - much to small as it is shared with US Airways and often there is no capacity when the BA flights are leaving. Needs a rethink for sure. Overall Philly is a nice airport once you are airside.

As usual an interminable wait at immigration and this time the entire complement of travellers were subject to long delays at security for intensive scrutiny on behalf of the Dept of Agriculture without any explanation.

Airport is pretty big. However if you come from Europe the cue is most of the time extremly huge for non us people. Pretty dirty and a bit low on exit signs.
