JAL Premium Economy has access to the QANTAS Business Class Lounge. I must admit I wasn't overly impressed with the QANTAS Business Class Lounge. By world class standards its small, cramped, stained seat covers and carpets. Food and drink was average, if you were lucky enough to find a seat. Considering this is supposed to be the centre of operations for QANTAS, the lounge is a real let down.

Allow more then 2 hours for domestic travellers and probably more for international travellers. Getting to the airport is a mess, taking public transport is very expensive for the short hop to the city.

Fairly easy to get to from the CBd via train. Check-in slightly chaotic and Aussie security overly strict and illogical. Good array of retail shops once through security

Everything was great, except the facilities at the terminal...

Flew through the domestic Qantas terminal. Getting to the airport was easy, called a taxi the evening before the flight and got there no problem. Check-in was amazingly quick using the self check-in machines. Took only about 5-10 minutes. Security was also very quick, 10 minutes in total. The terminal facilities, however, was what made this a 4 star review instead of 5. The toilets were few and dirty and there were no power outlets to charge my phone. A shame really, could be pretty easily fixed.

Ground staff search and offload a luggage of an absent passenger for an hour and cause my flight delay. If it is technical problem to delay, I can accept. Yes, it is about security of aircraft for the offloading. However, it can be more effective and should not use such a long time for an domestic short-haul flight.

After landing, I was allowed to go to cockpit and managed a 10 minutes chat with the friendly English captain and his Greek first officer. This resulted 300 people off the plane in front of me and a long congested immigration and custom control queue. My Limo driver was waiting patiently as it took 40 minutes for me to get out of the control area and took my baggage and in less than 25 minutes on a Silver BMW740I, I was home but the memory of this trip will last much longer than the journey itself.

At 6am sharp in the morning, a sleek looking black BMW 740I awaits me at my door to start my journey to NZ. Arrived at airport in 25minutes and there was no queues at First class check in desk. I was then invited to the new Emirates Airlines lounge at Sydney which they open not long ago. This lounge is downstairs from departure floor at the western end of terminal under Gate 57, 59, 60. First impression is such a grand lounge! Very spacey with nice decor, plush leather sofa and a good dining area.

The lounge features a great food area with a buffet table set up and a cold food bar.

There are more amount and choices of food than ANY other airlines lounge in Sydney, which the generosity of Emirates literally put airlines like Qantas to shame. Previously I thought Air NZ lounge was the best in Sydney, now I?ve seen better.

Kingsford Smith Airport is well and truly past its use by date. Tired old terminals that have gone through countless cosmetic upgrades, over-priced food and retail outlets. I was lucky enough to dodge the bleak outlook of the international terminal by spending the majority of pre-boarding time in the airline lounge. Considering this airport is supposed to be the 'gateway' to NSW it's pretty sad and tired. Check-in and passing through Security was well handled, but be warned at peak-times delays are common.

This review is solely based on my arrivals experience at the domestic terminal. All the outlets were closed on my arrival, so I can't comment on them, but the terminal felt nice and modern. Baggage reclaim was super efficient too, my case was there before me and I walk fast! Easy to get to the centre of Sydney too, well signposted for the trains so overall I had no problem recommending this airport. Oh, and WiFi worked well too! I can't comment on customs as I had done all that when I arrived in Brisbane.

After arriving at Sydney International Airport, I asked the info desk the route to the Mercure Hotel which is within walking distance. He told me that it is very far, close to the domestic terminal!! Absolute ridiculous and after he check his google map, he didnt even admit that it is just across the myriad of raods cross from the International terminal. Instead he told me that he doesn't know how to get there!! Told me to take a taxi! Just another money grabbing exercise.

The Qantas Domestic Terminal is excellent. It provides great convenience, especially for its frequent flyers, with less check in desks and more bag drop and self check in screens throughout the check in area. Security was easy and quick, and many facilities were available. Lots of Qantas memorabilia were decorated through the terminal.

Kingsford Smith for me gets three stars just. As a landmark world city, with visitors from all over the globe and all manner of airlines using it, I don't think it makes the grade. And hard to score it high when you have airports like Hammad International, Changi, Zurich etc. Kingsford Smith just seems old and tired and in need of a makeover and capacity increase. The food court and food choices on offer for example prior to entering departure lounges, is very basic and often crowded. The train servicing the airport is way overpriced to the point of being ridiculous. So it is functional and once past security does open out a bit and offer choices, but still not ideal. That said, the plus is it always seems ok getting through security and customs, especially with electronic biometric gates, those are great features.

Only thing that would make Sydney better is if they had the automated baggage collection like Melbourne does. It makes the process a lot more streamlined, especially when there was a lot of knock-on delays from the weather during the day.

Can anyone tell me if an explosive swab, anywhere in the world has resulted in any passenger being offloaded? I'm willing to bet not. How many billions have been wasted? It's the same as demanding that we have the metal in our cars tested for rust before we start them - a complete waste of time!

Pathetic excuse for an airport. NONE of the self check in queues working and a massive, snaking line of travelers waiting, and waiting, and waiting to check in and go to their flight. Airport is old and run down and looks like it hasn't seen a makeover in decades.Expected more from this airport considering it is in Sydney after all.

Bomb it, blow it up or destroy it, whatever, just level it and build it again and make it right.

Great airport but it is broken into 2 main airports. terminal 1 and then 2/3 for domestic flights. $10 shuttle for connections not on same itinerary.

Only arrived here at the end of a long flight. A very efficient customs and taxi straight away. We used 3 separate country's customs facilities and Sydney was by far the best at departure and re-entry.

Shit airport. Congested and very unpleasant check-in area. For a bus terminal, it would have been OK. But for an international airport, they need a lot of improvement. Nice big windows to watch the planes outside though. Plus, very expensive Airport Train Service.

Sydney Kingsford Smith is one of the best airports I have been to. I am a regular traveller, however this was my first long-haul journey.
Upon arrival at YSSY/SYD, we got through the airport incredibly quickly. Baggage claim was done in virtually no time at all.

Departures has been renovated and looks like other major airports only smaller. Arrivals has not changed in years, is runned down, dirty, and an embarassment to arrive in. Not many food options in arrivals but you can go to departures.

This time we decided to park at the Blue Emu car park - it is a long long way from the terminal.
There is a shuttle bus, but overall it is awkward to get bags on and off and you sometimes have to wait a while for a bus (esp if you just missed one like we did). Allow 30 minutes to park and get to the terminal.

Getting to the airport during morning rush hour from the CBD was no problem. A small shock when I arrived at the check-in at Area A to see 200+ people waiting in a queue until told that my flight was on the other side of Area A. Better signage methinks. Check in easy - through security was not so time consuming. The shopping seems to be plentiful and with a wide choice but I didn't look hard. The executive lounge was decent, spacious and tidy and a decent choice of breakfast goodies. Called to the flight with 30 minutes to spare, but put on a bus and stood for 20 minutes waiting for the four last passengers with a screaming child to add to woes.

Had a great experience while arriving from Singapore. Took only about 20 minutes to get from the aircraft to the street! I've never departed from the airport so I've only seen a small part of it but from what I've seen it's great.

Awesome Airport! Very clean and safe. Navigation is very simple if you read the signs. Awesome selection of food outlets! Always someone in eyesight you can talk to for help! A little expensive to get from the Domestic Airport to the International Airport - $6 One Way or $12 Return

As a local, I've always been critical of Sydney airport but i must admit that it is improving iin the areas i think are important. The introduction of more computer based processing of passports and reduced customs checks for those with nothing to declare has meant the time between check in and passing through security checks is now faster than ever.

Took over half an hour to crawl along General Holmes Dr to get to the airport. Almost miss my flight. And the security check was absolutely over the top. Overall a terrible airport operation.

Getting to and from the domestic airport is a poor experience due to poor road layouts and crippling slow traffic around the airport precinct. The last 2-3 kms can take up to 45 mins to travel. Train is good option although very expensive to use airport train stations.

Very spacious airport, perfect views for aviation enthusiasts like me.

Beware of the Charge on Opal Cards for using the train stations though, if you're going Bondi or Burwood I would recommend to 400 bus from outside
