Small terminal, very long queues and complicated check-in procedure. You have to screen all the luggage before checking it in. Not enough staff to service large groups of passengers.

Dabolim Departure is better than Arrival. Thanks largely to the fact that it's a new terminal.
Clean loos, good WiFI, and ample food options makes it a much better experience.

The new Goa airport is honestly below par to the international standards. For international passengers, it is an absolutely pathetic situation inside the terminal.
But given the fact that Goa mainly operates as a domestic hub, it explains the lack of facilities. However with the increase in Indian tourism, Goa would require an upgrade. As of now only 4 international flights fly into Goa. All together, it is still an underdeveloped airport but has the bare minimums to allow a passenger to get onto his/her flight and fly off to another more appealing airport.

We landed on 30th December, the peak season of tourism. And then we stood in the taxi cue for 2 hours before we made friends with another family and shared a taxi. Goa simply does not have the facilities to host tourists on such a large scale.
Cost from Airport to Calangute is 1200. The touts were charging 3000k. While the cops just looked on.
Terrible experience. Avoid the period between 25th dec and 1st of January.

They do check only the check-in luggage but not the hand luggage. The most dangerous airport that I've ever been.
The whole procedure from screening the luggage, check-in to entering the airplane took around 3,5-4 hours.

As I have posted before, Goa airport is a new sorry excuse for an airport. Designed by and maintained by the government, what can you expect but the worst possible design, crowded, no working ac very often, not enough parking bays, its a mess.

In all my years of travelling, this is one of the worst possible airports that I have seen.
almost an hour line to scan the baggage. They do not have line scanners. Extremely pathetic staff at the scanners.
Security line was another half hour. They are not prepared for the afternoon rush.
Airport has no facilites at all.

It is a PATHETIC, SORRY, excuse for a NEW Airport. Opened now few months, it looks 20 years old. Opened with filthy carpets, stained carpets, walls, tiles, pathetic dirty bathrooms, sinks stained, paan stains in a NEW?A airport.
Most stupid design ever. Enter on ground level, go up equla to 4 floors to wait, then back down 3 floors to the docking gates!!! Ridiculous.
The holding area has little or NO air-conditioning, (where the thousand travellers wait to board), has a PATHETIC food stall. Imagine the foreigners waiting at 2am with that shitty sandwich shop.
In Bombay DOMESTIC Terminal 1-C you have Starbucks, KFC, Dominoes etc etc etc....... and here?????
A sad sorry excuse for India's tourism heaven. We get thousands of charter flyers each year, and the suffered in the old terminal, and the new one is hardly better.
We tell ourselves, Its better than the old one
But.....it was made and is run by Government. What can you expect????????

Very poorly planned for a just modernised airport. Toilets poorly maintained. Only one food joint in the entire domestic boarding area...someone's making a lot of money in this arrangement....hmmm.!
Arrival hall is cramped.
Again, the taxi arrangement here reeks of nepotistic profiteering. Had to wait 45 minutes in a queue to finally get allotted a taxi.

Considering this new terminal only opened a year ago its poorly laid out, lacking food and retail facilities and dirty. Staff seem poorly trained and under-motivated. Security was particularly lax - more interested in stamping hand baggage tags than noticing unclaimed bags.

Sad sad times for a brand new airport. Pathetic attempt by a government body who, like most things, government should stay out of and let he private sector do its part.
Weird layout, non functioning facilities in a 10 day old airport, everything about it is a failed attempt at what could have been spectacular for such an important tourist destination
