Loved the airport, I was rather surprised by the size of the airport. I arrived by car so I am unsure of any other transport to and from the airport. the Security line was a little big but we got through really fast. Arrived a little late to the airport so I didn't get to look around and see what they had there.

Good airport to actually watch planes airside. Lovely design from what I saw of it. But staff misinformed me on a late transfer and I was nearly turfed off a flight for a late check-in (I'd gone straight to gate as told to by them, not to check-in).
Automatic passport readers couldn't read my passport. Security staff not impressive. No food beyond this inexplicable extra security. Wifi wouldn't connect.

I like usually like this airport. It is very well organized and structured, decent facilities, nice food and especially retail options for a regional airport. However, Lufthansa lounges are not spectacular. The worst thing, however, is the bag claim. SUUUUUUPER slow, and they don't manage to deliver priority bags first... I don't know why, every other time the priority bags come after a bunch of regular bags...

excellent airport,have good transport connection from the centre of the city (S1), excellent sunny terrace with good field of view to runaway and landing aircrafts...

it seems, that I am unlicky recently, when I arrive in HAM.
I do not remeber one single arrival at my home airport without any glitch. This time again, no ground staff for stair handling for roughly 20 min. Unbeliveable

Overall is a good airport, easy to reach and well organized.
The food court has a limited choice but the food is great, with a magnificent view on the apron and runways.
The security check is fast, smooth.
The borading gates are average with enough seats available.

Advice:if you reach the airport by train s1 line be aware at the speaker advice.

Hamburg is a very nice airport - easy to find one's way around, at arrival as well as on departure. 25 min to the central station by the S-Bahn. There can be a long queue at the security control.

A modern and nice airport, easy and practical. Good connection to the city center in 25 minutes with the S-bahn. Two terminals, with the security control between them. Very easy to find one's way. Many toilets, very clean.

Due to the construction works deboarding by foot. No problem but entering the airport trough an emergency exit and via a narrow stairway was not that good. Especially for older passengers or those with physical disabilities as well as those who have huge cabin luggage with them or check in luggage delivery at aircraft. Anyway apologized by the construction works.

Free WiFi is probably the worst in any European Airport, only 1 hour and extremely slow if you can actually log in.
Otherwise its a great regional airport with excellent connections into the city.

Hamburg has a great lounge and restaurants. Easy to get to via airport train from hamburg hbf every 20 minutes. However, it is closed from midnight to 4am ish, and so if you have early morning international. Free wifi near the lounge. otherwise pay to play, but good throughput.

At the fast lane, expect travelers to be acting only in self-interest.
It seems to be out of question for the majority to put the cases, in which ones belongings go through x-ray, back into the transport system so that the next traveler can access its own cases.
Beside that, I would expect the security personal to clean up the mess and ensure a fluent check.

Easy to get to with S-bahn station within the airport and only Euro 3.10 from city center. Fast track security about 15 mins at busy times, standard security can be 30-40 mins. Free WiFi provided by Turkish Airlines but it can be slow.

Easy to get to airport using S-Bahn. Check-in quick using Sky-Priority. Security with fast-track is quick, but there were long queues at normal security checks. Lounge is OK. Free WiFi via Turkish Airlines for 1 hour but is quite slow.

That evening of Sep 10th 2015 the Hamburg airport was in a state of chaos. Unbelievably long queue to cross security, I didn't miss my flight only because I overturn the queue and sneaked in front of other people. Airport service personnel was absent. At one point one (very short) woman tried to direct people in keeping straight lines, but she was completely ineffective. No communication was issued to explain why this was happening. No information was given on how to ease the situation. I never saw something as bad in Germany. Ever.
Getting to the airport was also not easy because of large roadworks on the motorway, causing long traffic jams from all directions.

Nice and cozy airport. Easy to access with train to / from city. But read train info carefully first. Lots of services at airport. Not very pricy. Only negative thing was Finnair's slow bag drop desk and pretty reckless bus transfer to the plane :)

The best expression for Hamburg's airport is good, but nothing special. It's cheap and easy to get there. (Even with public transport.) The airport offers a small range of restaurants, but actually, it is enough.

Hamburg is a typical small airport in Germany. If everything works well, you this airport is a good choice. But if your plane is delayed (my dalay was over 3 hours) you don't know what you should do with your time.

At least the platform for spotting planes is free and there's quite a lot of traffic. And if you like geocaching, I can recommend you to do the cache inside Terminal 2.

There are two separate lines for entering security, which I didn't really understand, but it moves fairly quickly and they speak English along with German (and Dutch, too, I think).

The private lounge is fantastic: showers, sleep pods, good selection of food.

Getting there is a breeze, as you pay one fare and hop on the subway, rather than paying a zonal fare.

Only downside is wifi. It's free for the first hour, and then you pay through the nose after that.

Hamburg is a somewhat provincial airport but run very professionally. There are good public transport and road connections to the airport. The terminal facilities are quite modern, very airy and lofty with short distances to the gates. The WiFi should be improved and is probably the only bad thing about Hamburg Airport. Food and retail services are abundant and quite good although pricey. The immigration has been improved recently and now is up to a good standard. The baggage claim usually is exceptionally fast. It happened several times to me that my baggage was on the belt by the time I arrived at the baggage pick-up. (although I must admit that on rare occasions I had to wait for 20 to 30 minutes). Usually it takes less than 10 minutes.

Nice airport to start your trip. Not that big like other international airports but everything you need.
The check-in is at a central point, so everyone need to check in there, which causes some delays during the check-in. There are also a lot of self check-in counter which you can use.
The restaurants and shops are great.
Overall a good airport with good staff and offers.

A very nice smaller airport! Ofcourse compared to bigger ones there are not that many stores but the airport is very clean and the distances are short. There also enough check ins and the baggage delivery is realy fast. The fastest I know.

Very large, spacious airport with great facilities. Large windows down the whole side of the terminal giving great views onto the apron and both runways. Security was fantastic, no queues, friendly and efficient staff. There is limited food choice, one or two fast food joints, a sushi bar and then just cafes. Not the best place if ore looking to have a proper meal in the terminal. Casino land side too. Train connects to Hamburg HBF in about 20 minutes for 3 euros.

Most of the duty free area is closed down ,facilities is a long walk between the gates to emigration and from emigration to the luggage area..While transiting through Heathrow Terminal 5 all the stores are closing down and the screens are not always working or updating the flights at the right time.How's possible there're us no wifi in terminal 5?other airport offers it for free!!!!

It's a very nice and clean airport. The flights are almost always on time. the two terminal buildings are pretty new. It's easy to get there since there are Subways from the Hamburg Central Station. The food is pretty good and you have one hour WIFI for free which is comfortable too. You don't have to walk long distances because the way to the gates isn't very long. I highly recommend this airport because I had only good experiences and I flew a lot from and to Hamburg Airport because I live there.

Train service to the city center directly at the airport - it is about 20 minutes I guess (single ticket is ? 3).
On the contrary to the Frankfurt Airport I was able to use my non-German debit card to buy local traffic tickets at the airport, there was no need to withdraw cash.

Overall a fine airport but very expensive. My main critic is WiFi. Basically NO free public WiFi. You get 30 minutes (if it connects properly) and that's it. For how expensive the airport is, to provide a good public WiFi should be basic customer care. This is not stone age anymore, it's 21st century...

Take the S-Bahn located between Terminal 1 and 2 to get to the city - cheap, fast, comfortable. One way trip is only 3,00 EUR. Get off at Hamburg Hauptbahnhof for shopping or Jungfernstieg for having a coffee at the Alster sea.

As ususal very fast baggage claim, todayx the taxi service was slow but this ususally is no issue. Check in and safety check usually are very fast and high quality.

Just the number of overseas flight and connections to some European connectiuons are not that good.

Being my home qairport I am very famiiar with it and really like this airport. For my needs it is perfect!
