Stansted busy as usual, not to bad getting through security, for a change. All restaurants very busy, took a while getting table. Changed boarding gate 4 times.

Arrivals at Stansted was a real let down after a brilliant holiday.
Making your way through passport control is really straightforward sadly when you reach baggage reclaim baggage trolleys are all nicely chained up and allegedly you need either a one pound or one euro coin to release the trolley. Strangely not one trolley could be released by any passenger!
Come on Stansted get your act together!

Had to use the monorail once landed. Not frequent enough and then emptying 300+ persons onto an already busy immigration hall. Not good.

I cannot see why all the negativity about this airport. I travel regularly in and out. I know it?s going to be busy so I make sure I arrive in good time. I make sure I pack my luggage correctly to clear security. I know the terminal will be busy due to sheer volume of passengers, so I use the Escape Lounge. Not everyone wants to go to the expense of that so you may have to put up with a wait for a seat at restaurants and other eateries. I keep an eye on the screens and when my gate is announced, I make my way to the gate immediately making sure I?m going to the correct gate as per my flight number and not the destination. It all works well and have never had any problem.

Poor airport, difficult to get to from where I am...security check was awful, going slow with massive queues, so many people leaving liquids in bags...had to run to gate because this process took so long.

The airport is definitely quite a bit worse for wear at this point. The main terminal hasn't aged all that well, the baggage claim area is chaotic, and the entire terminal appears overloaded. It's time to build something new. That being said, the actual baggage delivery was lightning fast, hence 3 stars. Also, the connection into London Liverpool Street Station with Stansted Express is extremely convenient. Anyone who takes a bus into London from Stansted needs to get their heads checked!

Sometimes larger queues on re entering UK passport control can be busy but as luggage also takes a long time it is not so bad.

The airport is too far from any part of London.
I had to drink the whole water bottle before going to the security check, so make sure your bottle is not too filled (there's a fountain in the bathrooms that fills them with cold water).

Extremely crowded, however the Escape lounge redeems a three start rating. I understand the airport was designed with low cost airline's in mind, however with the likes of Emirates now operating to Stansted, changes need to be made to reflect this. Despite the departure lounge overcrowding, check-in and security was smooth.

the airport has changed a lot.. I was always a hassle to get there, but today was a complete mess.. Buses were running 40 minutes late and noone wanted to give us any explanation! The airport is so stupidly done that you have to walk all the way through the entire building to get where you want.. just like IKEA stores, but without the shortcuts! To many people and as always to few opened security lanes.. Unfortunately I was really disappointed today...

Took the Stansted Express from the Liverpool Street Station in London. Check-in procedures weren't straight forward. My checked bag was overweight, so I ended up paying a fee that seemed more like a penalty.

In terms of the actual building it might be London's 2nd best airport, but getting to it is a nightmare... it seems simple on the surface with a train station right in the terminal, but requires lengthy and expensive train rides from almost anywhere in London, unless you live by Liverpool Street. This makes early morning flights very difficult. Security seems to have a little bit of a queue but not outrageous. Although persona I love the fact theres a Starbucks and Burger King inside. Returning is not as good however as the procedure for if your passport dosen't work at the ePassport gates you have to wait ages...

It's a decent size airport with plenty of places to eat. Not really anything other than that. Many ways of getting to the airport, bus, train, taxi and coaches.

as big as it is, as dumb as it can fucking get. first time there and I hate it. I had to wait for a couple of hours and when I finally got home I still had flashbacks from the horrible music they were blasting. the old ladies at the security check were really nice, other than that it sucks assss. also that thing is bigger than nicki minaj's booty yet there is no smoking after security mate. very unorganized. prepare for back problems too if you have to wait as the benches are horrible

Stansted Airport is all in all a good airport. The people are friendly and helpful. Immigration process (I speak as an EU citizenship) took me some time (40 minutes), but was handled quickly, when you consider the mass of people in the waiting hall. Airport is so far clean and in a good shape. But some toilets could be cleaner and in a better shape.

We used the London Stansted Express train to get from the airport and back. We saved a lot of money by using the group ticket (original price was 14?/person , 7?/person with group ticket). Train takes 47 minutes to Victoria Station and leaves every 15 minutes during the day.

Also interesting for me was, that you have to follow a long ?shopping road? with a lot of curves to get from the security checkpoint to the Ryanair gates. Never experienced that in an airport before, but seem to work.

I've never been at the arport, that doesnt alow you to get back from gate to the main terminal. It's only one way peoplemover, one way escalator. Once you get to the gate you stuck. Cant get back. If you accidentaly go to another part of the airport you need to be taken by the staf and driven back. Stupid. When you are bored and want just walk and visit the terminal you may get stuck and even miss your flight. very unfriendly airport layout, but friendly staf. They must know, that this airport sucks.

In spite of all the problems people encounter when travelling out, we never get these problems. Most are cause by the pax themselves not arriving in time to get through the mega busy security and then, spending too much time shopping or in the bars.

Arrive by public transport or use one of the car parks. Short stay outside terminal very expensive. Jet Parks/Longstay car parks cheapest with free bus to terminal. AVOID MEET AND GREET AT ALL COSTS. They have such a bad reputation. During busy times, terminal is very busy often running out of seating. Restaurants get packed too as does the lounge. Sine age to gates not brilliant. If you want gates 40-59 and gates 81-88, do not get on the transit. You must walk to thes3 gates. The lounge is always busy often showing ?lounge at capacity? signs so make sure you book. Immigration is really bad at times due to staffing levels and automated visa checking machine that malfunction. Again due to staffing levels, baggage reclaim is appalling. All this should improve when the new facilities are in place in early 2019.

Bad organised airport in summer time. We had to wait more than 1,5h to left the plane and then more than 1h to get our luggage. When we had flight back our plane started flight with 1,5h delay because airport crew put electric wheels in wrong part of the plane. Only one good thing is that immigration process were ok.

12 of the first 14 ePassport gates not open. Couldn't count how many of the 30 total were not in use, over 505%. ePassport is supposed to be quicker, have them working at capacity and it will be!!

Overall pretty bad. Have read a lot of reviews on other media sites and over 90% are slating this airport. Unfortunately, most of these reviews appear to be true. The pax numbers/flights are increasing too quickly for the airport to handle. The departure lounge is not big enough to accommodate the numbers of pax travelling at busier times. There is not enough seating. It takes too long to get from security to the departure lounge as duty free is too long and understaffed most of the time. The staff that are there spend most of their time chatting with each other. The aircon in the terminal and in some satellites is disfunctional. The transit is very old and breaks down regularly which is then covered by an insufficient supply of ageing busses. There seems to be a shortage of ground staff on the apron so planes have to wait to get onto a stand as there is no one to turn on the guidance system. When they do get on stand, there is no one to chock the wheels, put rear steps on and put out the safety ropes. After midnight, most of the small amount of staff they have go home making these delays even worse.

New airlines, world class airlines like Emirates who operate daily long haul to Dubai have just come in. If this airport doesn?t get its act together pretty soon, these airlines simply won?t put up with it and will leave. Once they have gone, they won?t come back.

Action needs to be taken now by the airport to make operators and handling agents alike get their acts together before it?s too late. Penalties should be imposed for poor service. Whilst MAG are building like mad, they simply need to build faster to keep pace with the growing number of the most important people in the whole airport...... yes, the passengers. Because without the passenger, you are doomed. Sorry to be the bearer of such a poor review and like other reviews before this, I suspect it will fall on deaf ears but I really hope not. STN has the base for a world class airport. It?s going to take years for another runway to be built in the south whether it be at LHR or elsewhere. STN should capitalise on this delay.

Best way to describe Stansted is as a cattle market on steroids. Chaos everywhere as far as they eye can see and ridiculous walks to get from Security to Departures and then to the gate. I would strongly advise arriving at least 2hrs 30mins before your flight to give you enough time to get through security.

Security has a really pour service, and is one of the slowest control that I ever passed by.
You almost can loose your flight, go there with time.
The wi-fi connection almkst never work.
To find a place to seat...good luck!

Everything at Stansted was fine, although it was the day of the bus fire so we were delayed getting our coach home. Flight departed Prague and arrived at Stansted on time although we were one of the last flights to arrive at Stansted and not be diverted.

We got the National Express coach to the airport which arrived slightly early. Security was quick and easy. Went for breakfast at Coast to Coast. Not the best but not the worst either. Wi-Fi was decent.

The terminal building is overloaded in every area, and we are not even in the busiest period of the year. The passengers who are comming to drop off their luggages from customer service, they are taking over in queue the flexi plus or business passengers at the check-in which is ridicuolus.
Free Wifi is useless.

They cancelled a lot of flights because a burning bus out side of the terminal yesterday. This not even happened in the air side. I had to use the following flight next day morning because o this stupid things.

On the following days in the morning, we had to do holding patterns to get clearence for approach and landing, however, no one expected for us on ground. The ground handling did not prepared anything for us. Tha aircraft couldn't even park for five mins because nobody setted up the docking system. Then we could not leave the aircraft for another 15mins because no one prepared anything to leave safely the arcraft and walk towards the terminal building.
This is completly unacceptable!
The e-gates for passport pretty quick, even that case when they using the 30% of the available gates...

I was thoroughly unimpressed. The rail link from London is great, but the terminal is lacking. The design of the security queue is downright misguided, causing chaos and confusion as passengers try to grab their belongings from moving trays, and secondary bag checks clog up the only exit route. A simple re-scan can easily cause a 30-minute waiting time, even if the place is not crowded. The airport generally feels like a shopping mall that got some airline gates installed as an afterthought. Hope you'll never have to cut it close, because the walking distances to some remote gates are ridiculous, and resemble a maze of ugly plain tunnels. Not a great experience overall.

easy to get there, parking is great if booked in advance. great terminal facilities, wifi is ok but not very strong, great food and retail facilities. immigration/custom services are efficient but very long queue and waiting times are ridiculous. baggage claim depends on the day and flight. overall very busy airport. allow more time than normal as you can miss the flight queueing.

The terminal is extremely crowded and dirty. There are so many flights departing and arriving but such a small amount of space in the terminal. Unfortunately this is fairly typical for a UK airport.

Nice and really good looking airport, most flight from here are ryanair flights, and like for cheap airport this look very cool and fancy. I expect very bad airport like on other airports where mostly flights are only ryanair flights. Very recommend!

Taxi to the airport no problem. Check-in at Jet2 was fast and easy. Security check was easy and fast enough. Terminal facilities not much choice - very limited.
