Second favorite airport. Love this place for people-watching. Shops and restaurants are great. Lots of places to plug in and recharge powered devices. WiFi typical for airports, which is not good.

For how big Miami International Airport is the immigration/ customs was surprisingly quick and easy, even for someone who has never traveled internationally before.

The airport is very close to the downtown area, beaches and other attractions like the Everglades NP. Renting a car there was very easy. Getting back to the airport, the traffic was quite congested (being close helped us getting there on time despite the traffic), so plan for that when making travel plans.

This was my first trip with a flight departing from the E concourse. It's kind of a pain since we arrived at D60, we had a pretty long walk over to E, and when you get there the food choices are SERIOUSLY lacking. Other than that MIA was nice enough.

No real lounges in Miami to speak of during my visit but there are takeaway places and restaurants you can dine in. But the ones that qualify for Priority pass in terminals D and E are SHITTY.

Airport terminals are very old. Suggest to refurbish urgently all buildings and put wifi internet that works, more information signs and some kiosks in some buildings that sell SIM cards. Some food stores are closed at night and can not have any good snacks, and need to pray to find some vening machines available.

The Miami Airport, although quite nice, was much too big (in my opinion). Granted, it has a reason to be quite large, but it felt crowded all of the time.

As a person who is fascinated by air travel and who loves the whole experience of flying, my tendency is to be pretty lenient on airlines and airports for things I think they can't easily control. Perhaps that's the main reason for giving Miami 4 starts instead of 3. I've only flown through Miami on American Airlines so have not experienced driving to/from the airport or parking, and I've only seen concourse D. Shops are first rate. Food is very good overall, in my opinion. Bathrooms are plentiful and cleaned regularly. The sky train is convenient. WiFi works, although it can be a little slow. The only real knock I give MIA is that the immigration and customs experience can be really bad/slow, or really fast and efficient, and there is no discernible rhyme or reason. I have gotten through the whole process in 45 minutes, and another time it has taken well over 3 hours. Having said all that, twice a year or so I make a flight where I have choice of flying through Miami, Houston, or Atlanta, and I pick Miami every time.

Speedy check-in and short security lines left me lots of time to wait for my flight. Too bad the internet is only free for 30 minutes...

Not a place to transit through if you have less than 2.5 hours. Not enough APC passport readers, the old face to face with immigration officer was faster. After collecting bag and depositing for connecting flight sent to 3 different security checkpoints as the queues were so long. Nobody seemed to know what they were doing.

It takes around 1 - 1:30 hour to pass the customs.
In addition, security treat you badly and like a terrorist. I'm sure also it happens in the other airports of USA.

Miami Airport is always busy, always confusing, and always a hassle to get in and out of. That said, it was cheaper to fly from MIA than from FLL this time and so that's where I flew from.

Lo malo: el VIP cierra super temprano.

Nowhere to sleep when we have to stay the night at the airport. No benches to lay down because of the metal separator between each seat. So people are sleeping on the floor. Also, the air conditionning is really just too much, it was so cold that I put my winter scarf on. Oh and the TVs, so loud and annoying, everywhere in the waiting space where we were trying to sleep. Didn't sleep at all this night. And WIFI isn't free. Otherwise, it's a nice looking airport.

Miami is a mess. I fly out of MIA sometimes since the flights are considerably cheaper...also because I fly for work and the company I work for books my flights from MIA.
There are plenty of places to eat and shop in the airport but everything else from the signage to the lines is atrocious.
That said, I do think they're working hard to make improvements to the airport, including the transit system from terminal to terminal.

Once on the tarmac, you have to wait at least 45 minutes because there is a line of aircrafts waiting to take off. Airport is way too busy.

If you are going through customs, do NOT schedule connecting flights less than 4 hours after landing. Customs here is HELL! If you do miss the connection due to customs, get your luggage and go to the company you purchased the flight from, they will do their best to relocate the flight at no costs (happened with LATAM/American Airlines)

Horrid experience... changing airlines and terminals with virtually no signage. Security was a nightmare... after walking like what seemed to be a mile, got to the designated security point and was told the line was too long and walk back to the previous point -- half way back. Did it and was told I was at the wrong point for my flight. Nevertheless they took me. I got through 30 minutes before scheduled departure and still was the last to board. The closed the flight 30 minutes early and we sat at the gate and waited

The airport is very dirty. There is WiFi.
Immigration no longer uses paper forms and instead uses kiosks that scan your passport, take your picture, and print a ticket. You then are sent to one of two lines. If your ticket has an 'X' on it, then you go to the CBP booths like old times. If your ticket is fine, you wait in a long line to be cleared to exit.
Security lines are extremely long, over half an hour, and the TSA officers are more confusing than helpful. One man had a TSA PreCheck ID but was denied PreCheck because it was not printed on his ticket, and when he asked why all the officer said was Call your airline.

Make sure you're wearing your walking shoes. You will need them. Eurowings parks at the end of concourse F. You will walk through numerous long corridors to get to immigration which is located in concourse D. It took approximately 20 minutes from the gate to immigration with the help of moving sidewalks. The immigration hall is intimidating but CBP officers point you in the right direction. Once you go through the process at the kiosk, it only took a few minutes to get through. At least my bag was waiting for me at baggage claim.
