Airport at Muscat was a very familiar airport to me but this time I noticed the customs officials had a technical fault at their end which had a huge delays which took nearly 2 hours 3 mins and 26 seconds to clear. Rather good airport terminal I would recommend this to anyone

Seeb is an old airport with bus transfer between planes and terminal. However the german build buses are easy to climb in and out and properly air-conditionned. Whether in transit or on arrival, bagage service is very efficient.
Visa on arrival fast and simple (no forms to fill). Immigration and customs officials friendly and efficient.

Small airport,, soon to be replaced by modern terminal building.
Only drawback is the bus shuttle between aircraft and terminal building.Fast unbureaucratic visa on arrival,Friendly and efficient immigration.
Reasonable duty-free offers

Decent Airport, Pretty Huge :) Easy to find everything, Nice Lounge
WiFi you need to register your Passport which is a bit over the top for me, plus a lot of sites just will not work without a VPN

It is ok, it should be improved, it is quite big., the Wifi is excellent. The food and retail should be improved, it is very poor. The lounge is good however, big airline companies should have they own lounges, that is my opinion though.

Collecting wifi password from some swarovski booth is stupidity and does not speak of intent to offer good and free wi-fi at the airport. The airport layout too is poor and most gates lacking a toilet nearby.

Muscat International Airport currently has an old terminal with a new one to open in early or mid 2017 with much better services and facilities.
Total security checks I've been through in many visits were 2. One before and one after Check-in.
The current terminal has acceptable facilities for an old terminal. There aren't much restaurants, but the Master Card lounge has delicious food. There are also 3 other business lounges other than the Master Card lounge.
There has recently been a new addition, and that is charging stations. There are charging stations with universal plugs in them which can be very useful if you're running out of battery.
The Duty Free is also good, with lots of products, foods, perfumes, toys, books, etc.
The terminal has many wide and big windows that you can see clearly see planes at their stands from.
The terminal does not have bridges and transportation to and from the airplanes is done by airport buses.
Overall 3/5.

The problem in muscat airport is the crowdness since the airport is reasonably old and small compared with the number of passengers. The duty free is small but good and wifi is for 2 hours and free to connect many times.
But a new state of art airport is being built and shall be opened by the end of 2017 and you even can see it near the runway

Small and comparatively less traffic. Trays for security checks are smaller than your avg. laptop. Few options for duty free shopping (btw Omani Rial is expensive). Free wifi, adequate seating space. Overall, not a bad airport for transit at all.

Oman Airport is terrible. The toilets are overflowing, there is no place to lounge about. The chairs are uncomfortable, and the crowd is noisy. The constant announcements make the airport a nightmare.
Travellers themselves are to blame. They make a mess of the place. Especially the labourers who are travelling to Bangladesh and Pakistan. ( I know because I heard them and was able to identify their accents.)

This airport is pure anarchy, nobody has any clue of the concept of queue, the check-in area is an utter disaster, with everyone too packed and carrying too big suitcases. The security is quick and poorly done, the shops inside are ok but I hate the fact that they don't display the prices with VAT/Taxes included, which is a big lack of transparency. The gates are bad and small, the english announcements stopped promptly after 2s of playing so you had no clue who the announcer was calling. The only good thing is the wifi, for free for 2h, but keeps disconnecting. If you look across the runway you can now see a terminal in construction...or is it a mirage??

Missed connection flight due to un-experienced staff in new terminal. Have to wait 6 hours for next flight. In business lounge no internet and no alcohol available. Nice terminal, but very bad experience overall. Internet has been always problem in Oman!
